Summer 2008!!!

Welcome to Preschool Promiseland Summer 2008!!!

We have all new small group teachers and new large group teachers, so this week might be a little confusing for you all! I'll try to explain our schedule so you have a little heads up.

The children will come to your classrooms to begin the morning. There are some ideas for Activity Stations in the back of your notebooks. You can use any of these as "coming in" activities. There are also puzzles in the cabinets. If you need to xerox any copies for coloring pictures, there is a machine in the resource room (we can give you the combination if the door is locked.)

At about 9:15 you will bring your class into the Large Group room for the Large Group Teach. This will last about 25 minutes. Please sit with your class. The children need to sit behind the orange line in the carpet (they know this.) There are usually 3 songs, please stand with the children and participate......you'll catch on quickly!! :-)

At the end of the Large Group teaching the teacher will pray. We would like the Large Group Teacher to say one line, then the children and small group teachers to echo the large group teacher. For example....

After the prayer the small group leaders will gather their class and return to their classrooms. Back in the classrooms you will do the "Summer Group" activity. This week it is the "Matching Game." You will find the game in the bin labeled for your class on the counter in the classroom. It will be in a folder labeled with the hour ( for example: 9am 3 year olds week 1)

After the game you can do snack, there is a written prayer in the curriculum you can use, or you can just make up your own.

If time allows you can complete the take home page, and also make sure each child gets a sticker to wear with the Key Concept "God Made Everything!"

You can go outside if the weather is nice. There are outdoor toys under the awning. There is sidewalk chalk in most of the cupboards, and also bubbles.

When giving the parents the take home sheets, please show them the side that has the discussion questions and encourage them to talk with their child about what was learned in Promiseland this week. encourage the child to do the motions for "God Made Everything!"

The songs are on the Reach Up High and the Touch the Sky CD's.
Simply click on the cd you want to view, a list of the songs will come up. Then click on "motions." A little box will pop up and a person will explain the motions to the song. If you are familiar with the songs and motions ahead of time it will help a lot!!!
